Having previously announced our support services for Rocky Linux and with support for the traditional release of CentOS 8 ending on 31st of this month, we're delighted to announce that our support, training and consultancy services are now available for AlmaLinux.
AlmaLinux is the community-run RHEL fork started Linux cloud OS vendor CloudLinux. While AlmaLinux started at and is financially sponsored by CloudLinux, the AlmaLinux OS Foundation has been created to take over development and governance of AlmaLinux and to provide clear community ownership and autonomy.
AlmaLinux development progress has been impressive since it's announcement. An initial beta was available in February 2021 with the first stable release, corresponding to RHEL 8.3 available in March. Two further point releases, 8.4 and 8.5 came out in May and November this year, closing the gap on the RHEL release to 8 and 3 days respectively. For a new project, reaching the point of releasing a binary compatible rebuild of an upstream product within 3 days is outstanding and bodes well for security updates.
We are excited to offer our services for AlmaLinux and look forward to lots of exciting projects. If you need to migrate from CentOS 7 or 8 to another RHEL based system, please get in touch!
